The highlight of the Club’s Programme of Events is the inter-Livery Cowes Regatta, traditionally held the weekend before the final Bank Holiday weekend of May. The format is for members and crews to meet informally at one of the local Club houses for a buffet supper on the Friday evening; the race commences on the Saturday morning after a dockside briefing followed by a Presentation Dinner at the Royal Yacht Squadron on the Saturday evening. A spectator boat is usually arranged for the non-sailors to view the activities on the Solent. This weekend is huge fun and immensely popular so booking early is encouraged. This year we are introducing a Cross-Channel rally from the Solent to St Vaast. This is likely to take three to four days to achieve the full benefits and pleasure: one day to sail there and one day to return with one to two days in St Vaast.
It is currently proposed that the cross-Channel rally will begin on Thursday, 16th June allowing for Friday and Saturday in St Vaast and departure on Sunday for those who need to return to work on Monday or staying on for those who would like to do so and return at their leisure.
Full passage details for the crossing, together with activities and restaurants for the Saturday market, (fresh Normandy produce for lunch to eat on board), Gosselin’s “epicerie fine comestibles” (a mini Fortnum and Mason food and wine caves), a visit to Barfleur by bus for moules et frites, will be circulated in good time.

Each year the Royal Lymington Yacht Club hosts an Interclub Challenge for 3-boat Lymington River Scow Teams, and the City Livery Yacht Club, as one of six teams, takes part. The format is usually three races on the Saturday afternoon with the best aggregate team score winning.
The format for those attending is to have dinner on the Friday evening in the River Room of the Lymington Clubhouse and dinner on the Saturday night, also in the Clubhouse. For those not participating in the competition, a spectator boat is provided.
