A delightful few hours was spent at the National Archives with renowned Marine Artist, Geoff Hunt introducing to an enthralled group of members some of the original logbooks of iconic vessels including the HMS Victory, Seagull, Endymion and Assistant.
Geoff Hunt is a Past President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists and has spent many hours reading original logbooks from the 18th and 19th centuries when carrying out research at the National Archives for his stunning paintings such as The Ionian Mission (reproduced with the kind permission of the aritist). Some of Geoff Hunt’s paintings have been commissioned for the covers of books by well-known authors including Patrick O’Brian and C S Forester.
