| We all gathered on the Isle of Wight for what turned out to be fantastic weekend enjoyed by all.
The Friday event took place in the Pavilion of the Royal Yacht Squadron with its superb views of the Solent. We enjoyed an excellent hot and cold food buffet provided by the Squadron. It was generally considered a great success and was attended by 120 plus members and guests.
Saturday proved to be a perfect day for sailing. Once the fog had cleared, a light SW wind set in which gave us excellent sailing conditions, albeit the Solent tide becaming a bit of a problem for some of the boats as they beat against the tide and the wind. Many thanks to Peter Jeary for being our Flag Officer on the day and congratulations to all the winners!
For the first time this year we supplied a Spectator boat which proved very popular and enabled some the non-participating sailing members of the club to go to sea and watch the boats racing. They picked up a mooring buoy in the Beaulieu river and enjoyed a well-earned glass of wine and a light lunch in the beautiful surroundings. Then back to Cowes in time to see the boats finish.
The prize-giving on Saturday night was a busy affair. We were at our maximum for dining with 160 people enjoying an excellent evening at the Royal Corinthean Sailing Club. Overall the weekend event was very enjoyable and special thanks to Margaret Campbell our Secretary and Rear Commodore David Church for making all the arrangements go so smoothly.
